doing wash that day
when my Mom called in tears
have you looked at your TV she did say

It started out so sunny
and then they did predict
a storm that was a’brewing
and coming pretty quick
They told us we should leave
but some of us just said no
if I’d known what I know now
I really would get up and go
But now Katrina’s past
and we live in the aftermath
and trust me when I tell you
there’s nothing left […]

She started out as a little rain
and then the sun went in
we were told to evacuate
but we thought this battle we’d win
The rain started pelting down
and the winds blew through our hair
