Hiding in the shadows
Hiding from it all
Sadness overwhelms me
Depression is just as tall
Wave after wave
Crash against walls
Built high and long
To keep out the fall
The fall of life

To hear the mournful sound.
The sound of silence and sorrow
For which there is no tomorrow.
The pastor says a few kind words
For the one no longer in this world.
Tears are shed and eyes are wiped
As time has come to the last light.

Darkness hides the real me
Must not let others see.
A happy face, a pretty smile
Helps to hide the inner vile.
Walls built high to protect my soul
Must not let others know.
A pleasant voice, and kind words
Keeps me safe in my world.
Depression and sadness feel like sin
Must not let others in.
Forever falling into black
Two steps forward, three steps […]

Darkness surrounds me – the air is thick.
Thick with lies, destruction and turmoil.
Light is far away – cannot be found
Found is what I need to be.

Love can be intimate and sweet
